Description: THE PLAYS AND POEMS OF WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE 15 VOLUME SET 1867 - Red Moroccan half calf leather and marbled paper sides all uniformly designed. Spines have gilted lettering and floral designs, and the flyleaves are marbled in the same nonpareil pattern as the covers. This set of 15 books includes all the plays attributed to Shakespeare as well as a section on his life and a volume dedicated to many of his most noted poems and sonnets. Published by Bell & Daldy, London in 1867, this edition was edited by Pembroke College Fellow A. J. Valpy and contains 170 illustrations by various English artists. Minor shelving damage is present on a few editions of the book with scuffing and other common imperfections. Binding to the spine in all books is firm and there are no loose pages in any of the volumes. Foxing is evident on the frontispiece of Volume I and can be seen in isolated areas throughout some of the volumes. This set of 15 is in excellent condition for its age and would be a perfect addition to a personal library.
