Description: Artist: HENRI DE TOULOUSE-LAUTREC (1864-1901) Size: 23 3/8 x 32 3/8 in./59.5 x 82.2 cm Imp. Chaix, Paris Never-before-seen in this before-letters stage, there exist three textual variants of this poster: the first announces the opening of his new cabaret, the second notes the sales of a songbook by the performer, and the third promotes a beer available during one of Bruant's shows. Lautrec's masterstroke in this series is Bruant's insolent stance: his on-stage signature. We not only recognize Bruant despite his back turned toward us; we recognize him because of it. Several pop stars from the 1980s to today can claim Bruant's heritage.

Condition Report: B/ Slight stains at folds.
