NOTE
This panel is one of a pair once owned by Minna Rosenblatt. The companion piece, whose depiction of two parrots in flight differs slightly in its composition, was acquired from Rosenblatt by Aaron Frank, sold as part of his Estate at Sotheby Park Bernet in March 1979, and then sold by a New Jersey collector at Christie's in December 2001. It is now in the collection of the Louis C. Tiffany Garden Museum in Matsue, Japan.
The present panel was acquired from Rosenblatt by Barry Toombs, whose property was seized by the United States and sold at Sotheby Park Bernet in 1984. At the time of that sale, a printing error resulted in it being incorrectly illustrated and catalogued as its companion panel, which has been the cause for some confusion amongst collectors in recent years.
