Chicago, IL, USALive Auction
Description: This is an original English trade tomahawk from the war of 1812 period. It has an original haft and head. The haft has been shaved and/or carved down at some point in its history. This was a very thick tomahawk head that was used for War, cutting trees down and also for smoking. Note the eye is in a teardrop shape and walls are thick. The bowl has been smashed down a little (see photo) and this is indicative of use from either tamping out the burnt tobacco, or using bowl as a type of hammer.
