circa 1800 with 1815 improvements, twist iron 30 1/4in. re-browned barrel rifled with seven grooves, blade fore-sight on applied rectangular base, standing notch dove-tailed rear-sight with additional folding leaf, break-off breech, the top-tang with additional filled dove-tail for an auxilliary sight, flat bevel edged lock with carved pointed tail signed ''TOWER'', a ''G.R.'' crown device forwards of the hammer, renovated walnut full-stock with brass oval escutcheon at wrist, stepped arch brass patchbox to right of butt with twin internal compartments (one hinge screw absent), carved cheekpiece to left side, brass heel-plate and raised finger-spurred lower tang, extensive expert repairs to fore-end wood, the ramrod thimbles and nose cap possible replacements, original iron ramrod and sling swivels
