Description: TRIBAL: Navajo transitional "eye dazzler" blanket, c. 1890, red ground with cream and light green zig zag pattern, isolated stains and holes, two small areas of repair, two border tears, color run, 82" l. x 54" w. [Oral history maintains that this blanket was collected by William Ireland Starr (Bridgeport, CT, b. 1877) during a trip "out West" in the early 20th C. Starr was a neighbor of Samuel Clemens in Redding, CT, and the great-great uncle of the consignor.]
