Description: (TURKEY.) Pardoe, Julia; and Bartlett, William. The Beauties of the Bosphorus; by Miss Pardoe, Author of "The City of the Sultan," Illustrated in a Series of Views of Constantinople and its Environs. 78 steel engraved plates and 1 map, engraved portrait frontispiece of the author, engraved title-page, 164pp. 4to, 10 3/4x9 inches, original 1/2 black morocco over blind patterned cloth, spine gilt, all edges gilt, barely rubbed; internally fine with very occasional light spotting, 1848 owner''s inscription. London: George Virtue, 1838

Notes: A pleasurable narrative by the English Pardoe, accounting the architecture, topography and culture she witnessed during her time in Turkey in 1835. Her florid text is further enhanced by Bartlett''s rather wonderful illustrations.
