Description: Luristan, ca. 1000 to 600 BCE. This is a pair of deep, thin, cast bronze bowls, made with the lost wax casting process. One has a smooth body and a slightly pronounced foot; the other has a series of inset bands around its body, with a flat base and slightly flared rim. Both would have been placed in graves to hold libations or other offerings. Size of largest: 4.9" W x 2.75" H (12.4 cm x 7 cm)

Provenance: Ex - Hovsepian Collection acquired before 1980

All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back.

A Certificate of Authenticity will accompany all winning bids.

We ship worldwide and handle all shipping in-house for your convenience.

#116083

Condition Report: Both are slightly misshapen from age because of their thinness; the larger one has a very slight, stable crack to the rim. Both have deep green patinas and some dirt encrustation.
