Description: TWO STONELAIN PLATES BY FLETCHER MARTIN (AMERICAN 1904-1979) AND LUIS QUINTANILLA (SPANISH, 1893-1978).
Twentieth century, ceramic. Two handpainted glazed plates, both artist signed. One depicting a matador, signed by Fletcher Martin, circa 1940. One titled El Torro with bull signed by Luiz Quintanilla. Circa 1950, bearing Stonelain mark. Largest 12.75" dia.

Note:
From the Studios of Associated American Artists, NYC, the Stonelain Collection was a WPA-era line of artist made original designs in "high fired ceramics combining stoneware''s durability and porcelain''s texture." Reference: from an original Stonelain item label.
