Looking for the realized and estimated price?

Description: This rare knife measures 17 15/16" overall with a straight 12" single-edged blade having a 4 1/2" false edge. The blade has a mottled gray patina with large patches of dark freckling and scattered areas of light pitting, heaviest on both sides of the false edge and on the forte. The ricasso has still clear markings with "AMES MFG. CO./CABOTVILLE/1849" on the reverse, "US/WD" on the obverse. The brass guard has crisp "WD" and "J.W.R." inspector initials on the obverse edge and an overall dark yellow-ochre patina. The triple riveted walnut grips have light handling marks in the added oil finish and large armory stamps on both sides: "ER 58" on the obverse panel, "E 58" opposite. The original brass and leather sheath has moderate crackling and flaking of the leather near the chape which is missing its rivets and has a tarnished grid pattern on the outboard side, evidently from being on or in a loosely woven fabric. The throat is riveted in place and has numerous small dents in the brass. This is a rare and desirable U.S. military knife in good-very good shape. (74552-1)
