Description: SERIAL #: 321208 DESIGN: Military issue breech loading single shot. 32-5/8" round barrel. MATERIAL/FINISH COMPOSITION: Blued steel. Case hardened breech block. Military full stock with low comb. FEATURES: Blade front sight. Buffington rear sight. Case hardened breech block. Lock plate marked with the American Eagle motif and "US / SPRINGFIELD" in front of the hammer. Front of breechblock stamped "US / MODEL / 1873". Curved metal butt plate marked "US" on top tang. Swinging trap door with two channels for tools (empty). Two piece trigger guard. Serrated trigger. Two barrel bands. Sling swivels and stacking swivel. Inspector's cartouche on left side of stock above trigger guard dated "1888". "P" proofed twice on the bottom of the stock behind the trigger guard. Top of butt stock in front of top tang marked "3 / L / 33". Sliding ramrod bayonet with cannelures for a more effective bayonet catch. CONDITION: Good. Dark patina to metal surfaces. Breech block has lost the case colors. Bore is very good. Numerous scratches, scrapes, gouges, and dents to stock. INVENTORY NO. / CATEGORY: 4776/ANT ESTIMATE: $400 - $600
