(VERNACULAR SUMMER TRAVEL)
Thick album containing more than 545 artful photographs by a talented amateur.
With views of Asbury Park; New York street scenes, Washington Square, Statue of Liberty, Central Park, and Coney Island; Booth Bay Harbor, Maine; and the Pan-American Exposition in Buffalo. Printing-out paper and silver prints, the images measuring 3 5/8x4 5/8 inches (9.9x12.4 cm.), and the reverse, in window mounts, many with captions in the negative. Folio, 1/4 morocco, worn; contents generally clean. 1898-1903
This accomplished (if unknown) photographer had an affinity for the ocean as well as pastoral settings, including scenes with cute farm animals. There are also lovely pictures of sailing vessels in Booth Bay, Maine, and charming snaps of amusement parks, such as Coney Island and Asbury Park. In addition, pictures of Niagara Falls, the Erie Canal, circus animals, rural villages, and a variety of shots of the Pan-American Exposition, including thematic pavillions, native performers, the grand midway, and the ferris wheel, demonstrate a strong visual talent.
