Description: Victorian Naval Officers Sword, regulation blade etched with crowned fouled anchor, Royal arms, foliage and the owner’s initials WHR. Regulation hilt with crowned fouled anchor, folding sideguard, lion head pommel, white painted fish skin covered grip, bullion dress knot. In its brass mounted stiff leather scabbard. Blade 80cms. Good condition, a clean un-touched sword. William Henry Roberts, RN ( b. 1846/47?), Cadet 11 Dec 1861, Midshipman 18 Jan 1867,- Sub Lieut 14 Jan 1868,- Lieut 23 Apr 1872,Roberts was last listed as an RN officer in 1884 in the rank of Lieutenant.
