Royal Tunbridge Wells, United KingdomLive Auction
Description: Victorian Royal Artillery Officers Pillbox Cap in Original Tailors Forwarding Box, superb example of a Royal Artillery officers pillbox cap, navy blue cloth body with thick gold lace central decoration, the top with twist cord decoration and knotted half ball top. Interior retains the original leather sweatband and quilted lining with gold leaf tailors details to the crown. Original thin patent leather chinstrap still present. The cap is stored in its original card forwarding box from the tailor Hobson & Sons, London. Label to the lid is dated 1/6/1900 but sadly the address and name of the officer it was sent to is not clear, Victorian postage stamps are also attached to the box. A fine example.
