Description: SERIAL #: 7286 DESIGN: French made military bolt action with internal magazine and removable floor plate. 22-3/4" barrel. 7.5 x 54mm caliber. MATERIAL/FINISH COMPOSITION: Blued steel. Full length wood military semi pistol grip stock. FEATURES: This rifle was captured in the Battle of Tamquan in December of 1967. The Battle of Tam Quan was a two-week battle fought when the American 8th Cavalry and other units disrupted the 7th and 8th battalions of the 22nd NVA Regiment, which was in the process of preparing to conduct a major attack on ARVN installations at Tam Quan. Includes the Registration of War Trophy Firearms, form # DD 603-1. Hooded blade front sight. Rear adjustable military peep sight. Rifle normally has two barrel bands but the middle band is absent. The front band also has the front sight and bayonet sleeve mounted at the bottom. The spike bayonet is present and is secured by a pressure tab at both sides of the base. Metal butt plate with top tang. Comes in black plastic case. CONDITION: Poor. Little of the original finish remains on metal components, replaced by scratches, pitting, and patches of rust. Bore is poor and the bolt does not move smoothly. Stock shows significant battle wear with scratches, scrapes, dents, gouges, and loss of material. There is a clean break in the stock at the wrist. The butt plate is held in place only by the top tang screw. As previously mentioned, the middle barrel band is absent. INVENTORY NO. / CATEGORY: 4663-002/C&R ESTIMATE: $100 - $150
