Vintage Photography: China. A group of thirty-seven mounted albumen print photos of South Chinese views and natives, c. 1885, including eight group portraits, two with French captions to mounts identifying one image as a peasant family from Yem-Nam, the other a group of four young women and girls from the same village near Tonkin, twelve of river scenes including two showing natives on a boat, two of these with detailed French captions to mounts and numerical identification of landmarks on the images, one being the northern fort of Cakou at the mouth of the river Pei ho, the other showing the prefecture of Kouei-Icheou-fou on the river Yang-tze-Kiang, the remaining seventeen of landscapes and villages, the most faded image identified on the mount as a cave in the Wou Chan gorge and dated 18th November 1888, some duplication of images, all individually mounted to thick card mounts, some spotting to mounts, images approx. 17 x 11.5 cm and sl. smaller (37)
