Virginia Watercolor Portraits of Thomas & Frances Perkins
Thomas Perkins and Fannie Greenlaw Perkins lived at Hollywood Plantation in Stafford County, Virginia. He was most famous for carving George Washington memorial canes, from 1846 on. They resided at Hollywood until their deaths in 1855 for Thomas and 1857 for Fannie. They are buried in the family cemetery, near the ruins of their former home. These portraits descended directly from the family to a recent consignor. Thomas in overcoat with cravat and sideburns. Fannie with bonnet and matching lace collar. 21" x 16 1/2" s.s., in reproduction 19th century frames to 25 3/4" x 21 1/2".
