CATALOGUE NOTE

Painted circa 1899-1900, the present work depicts the south door of the Eglise St. Jacques, Dieppe, as seen from the end of La Rue Pecquet. Sickert painted this view on a number of occasions around this date and later between 1907 and 1908. A slightly larger version painted in November 1900 (with a horse and cart on the left side of the street) is in the collection of the City Art Gallery, Birmingham.
