Notes: Sickert visited Venice in 1901 and this painting is almost certainly one of several sketches that he made during this year of Santa Maria della Maddalena. This small-domed church dates from around 1760 and was designed by Tommaso Temanza. It is situated in a relatively secluded part of the Cannaregio district, and Sickert painted his subject from the Ponte Correr on the Fondamenta delle Colonnette.
No VAT will be charged on the hammer price, but VAT at 17.5% will be added to the buyer's premium which is invoiced on a VAT inclusive basis.
