Description: 2nd millennium BC. A substantial bronze axehead comprising a tubular socket with four moulded ribs and cones projecting to the rear; thin blade with reinforced edges, swept profile. Cf. Godard, F. The Art of Iran, London, 1965, fig.98. 531 grams, 21.5cm (8 1/2"). From an important private London collection; formed in the 1970s and 1980s.
