A carved chalcedony cylinder seal with intaglio sun-disc above a pillar or stylised tree flanked by starburst and crescent moon above an opposed pair of rampant sphinxes. See Collon, D. First Impressions. Cylinder Seals in the Ancient Near East, London, 2005, item 659. 6.56 grams, 25mm (1"). Property of a London gentleman; part of his family collection since the 1970s.
