Description: 18th-17th century BC. A carved haematite cylinder seal with a central motif of a standing young male holding a cup with two flowing streams of water, to one side a standing human-headed sphinx with a bull's head in front of it, a bull-hero standing to the other side dressed in a short skirt with a fish in front of him; a panel with reclining bird-headed sphinx and lion separated by an interlaced knot motif. See Collon, D. First Impressions. Cylinder Seals in the Ancient Near East, London, 2005, p. 48-9, 53. 5.20 grams, 17mm (3/4"). From a North London collection; formerly in the Rihani family collection, formed 1970-1980s.
