Watercolor depiction of a dog dressed in a formal outfit including black bow-tie, black hat, monocle with black ribbon, suit and smoking a cigarette. This was the front cover illustration for Life, Vol. 64, July 16, 1914. These clever depictions of dogs graced the covers of several magazines including Life and Country Gentleman. Signed lower right "Will Rannells". Housed in its original wood frame with matte & glass. SIZE: Sight: 14-1/2" x 14-1/4". CONDITION: Very good having two large water stains on bottom of matte which just go beyond the edge of the matte. 9-20612
