WILLIAM HENRY CLAPP ARCA 1879 - 1954 Corner of an Old Village, Spain oil on board signed and on verso titled, circa 1907 10 x 13.25 in 25 4 x 33.7 cm Private Collection, Quebec Born in Montreal, Clapp studied at the AcadEmie Julian in Paris, the AcadEmie de la Grande ChaumiEre and the AcadEmie Colarossi, absorbing the techniques of the French impressionists. In 1906, he exhibited with the prestigious Salon d'Automne in Paris with such celebrated artists as Renoir and Bonnard. This work is from a trip he made to Spain in 1907.
