1. Windsor McCay production drawing of “Gertie the Dinosaur”. (Windsor McCay, 1914) Original production drawing accomplished in pen and ink on 6.5 x 9 in. rice paper by Windsor McCay. “Gertie” was animation's first superstar, and McCay drew each individual scene by hand, on rice paper, before the use of acetate or nitrate cels began, which at the time was considered state-of-the-art production. Gertie the Dinosaur was the first film to use animation techniques such as keyframes, registration marks, tracing paper, the Mutoscope action viewer, and animation loops. It influenced the next generation of animators such as the Fleischer brothers, Otto Messmer, Paul Terry, and Walt Disney. In fine condition. $2,500 - $5,000
