Antique Shakespeare Memorial Silk Needlework Tapestry(239 views)
Description: Item # 3. An early 19th century Shakespeare Silk Memorial Needlework. This framed tapestry depicts a young lady placing flowers on the tomb of William Shakespeare. His name is spelled out on the body of the tomb surrounded by a wreath and swags of fabric. This piece is framed (15” x 17”) and the tapestry is an oval which is 10” wide x 11.5” tall. Condition: a little fraying at the bottom, the colors are still pretty bright considering the age. Of course there is considerable poetic license in the depiction of Shakespeare’s tomb: it looks noting like the silk rendering.
Condition Report: Small fraying at the bottom of the needlework
Dimensions: 15" x 17"
