French Sevres Porcelain Gilded Age Bronze Newport RI Estate Clock(208 views)
Description: A French Porcelain Clock: mark for Sevres Factory. Late 19th century. Size: 16” tall with the base 5.5” x 8.25”. Porcelain and ormolu bronze. Condition: the clock is not running. There are turquoise and red colored applied raised bead decorations. Many of them are missing. On the face of the clock there are 25 turquoise half beads missing and 11 red beads missing. On the plateau there are 2 red half beads missing. There are 2 red half beads on the upper top of the clock missing. There is an under edge flake under the top finial. There is some gilt loss to the porcelain. The urn section of the clock sits a little cockeyed and could be straightened with a little professional attention. This is a delicate and beautiful “Gilded Age” clock from a Newport Rhode Island estate. There is a key, we don’t know if it is original or not. The mark on the underside of the clock appears to be that of the Sevres Factory: we will leave it up to the interested parties to decide if it is Sevres or not. The face of this clock is especially beautiful with a painting of a cherub resting in clouds with a quiver and bow below him. There was never a glass door covering the face of this clock.
