Description: 15th-Century French Illuminated Manuscript Leaf with colorful borders on both sides. 16 lines of text on recto; 6 lines of text on verso. Text written in Latin gothic script with brown ink on parchment. 3 single-line initials painted in blue on a red background; 1 single-line initial painted in gold. Red and blue pen-work extending to margin from 3 initials. Contains the text of Hours of the Cross from the Book of Hours; to be said before retiring for the night (ad completorium). Lovely border on both sides with blue and gold acanthus leaves and red and blue flowers against a gold background. Color offsetting on verso. France: c. 1475. Size: 150 x 111 mm (5.9 x 4.4 inches). The text in Latin: Converte nos Deus salutaris noster. Et averte iram tuam a nobis. Deus in adiutorium meum intende. Hora completorii datur sepulturae. Corpus Christi nobile, spes vitae futurae. Conditur aromate: complentur scripturae: Iugi fit memoriae mors haec mihi curae. Adoramus. Domine Iesu Christe. Has horas canonicas cum devotione. Tibi Christe recolo pia ratione. And turn away thy wrath from us. Incline unto my aid O God. When as compline was come was layed in his tomb, Christ his body precious the hope of life to come.
