Description: Jack Meanwell (1919 - 2005), "Flowers in a Vase", Original painting, watercolor on paper, signed lower left. This lovely painting is a colorful and atmospheric watercolor depicting a vase filled with red flowers. Originally from Windsor, Ontario, Meanwell studied at the Detroit Art Academy and the Society of Arts and Crafts. He became an artist of landscape and figurative work in styles ranging from totally abstract to realist. He spent more than 25 teaching at the Art Academy of Cincinnati and, while living in Cincinnati, maintained a studio in an 1818 mansion called Elmwood Hall in Ludlow, Kentucky. His work is in the collection of the Cincinnati Art Museum.
