Pair of Vintage French '40s Bridge Chairs(118 views)
Description: Stripped to the bare frames, these chairs have been completely resurrected, fully restored. Heading into our Old Plank Workshop, these chairs were rough, naked and wobbly. My team took their time making new blocks and gusseting the corners. My upholsterer then installed new 8-way hand-tied springs, sterile horsehair and a fashionable ecru upholstery. Quite the contrast as to how they looked when they arrived. The rosewood was dull and dingy, the springs were bulging in different directions and these chairs were totally un-sittable. Not the case today, these are a pair of restored French 40's bridge chairs that could easily work in anyone's home, be it traditional, modern or eclectic. Do not miss this phenomenal pair of chairs. Originally designed for ladies of leisure for games of bridge, afternoon tea and of course, gossiping. The chairs needed to be stylish, small scaled and very comfortable. This was the birth of French bridge chairs.
