Paracas Dish with Double-headed Serpent Painted Inside(126 views)
Description: The dish is well painted with the the double-headed serpent using post fired resin pigments inside and panels in orange and red outside. It is very rare to see this sepent painted in two dimensions as most are modeled in three dimensions. The double-headed serpent is a very early motif going back to Chavin times. The symbolism is subject to many different theories.
Condition Report: Good with crack restored and some loss to the resin in places.
