Description: Substantial and period oil painting of California sycamore trees donning full fall color by listed artist Nell Walker Warner (American, 1891-1970). Signed lower right and displayed in period giltwood frame. Image, 14"H x 18"L. Nell Walker Warner was born in Richardson County, Nebraska and was a graduate of the Lexington, MO Women’s College and studied at the Los Angeles School of Art and Design. She studied locally with Nicolai Fechin, Fritz Werner, and Paul Lauritz and was art curator of the Tuesday Afternoon Club. She moved to Carmel, CA in 1952 and lived there until 1970. Los Angeles Times art critic Anthony Anderson stated that she was one of the ablest floral painters America has produced. In addition of her floral still lifes, her work includes landscapes of California and New England coast.
