Vintage Turkish Angora Red Long Pile Tulu Rug, circa 1960(53 views)
Description: A rare long pile Tulu rug from Central Anatolia with a long shaggy weaving and a plain unpatterned field in red, magenta and dark brown. Mohair is used extensively in these rugs and they are often used as bed rugs and wall hangings. "The use of mohair (angora goat's hair) makes these rugs sumptuous and rich fabrics. Mohair is soft, less bristly than wool and has a silken sheen." The fulled Tulu knot is used in this rug and it most closely resembles flocati rugs.
