America! America! by Rod Chase - Full Image

Lot 217S: America! America! by Rod Chase - Full Image

by Artistic Holdings Company

April 19, 2014, 5:00 AM PST

Las Vegas, NV, USA

Estimated Price: $180 - $225

Description: America! America! by Rod Chase - Full Image - Edition Size: Open - Giclee on Canvas, Open Edition Signed Dimensions: 10 x 15 Release Date: 8-2009 ???.As one of today?s finest and most recognized photorealist painters, Rod Chase has earned the highest respect of his peers and the admiration of legions of collectors. Each painting from the artist?s easel is a masterpiece created from extensive research and numerous photographs of each of his subjects. This technique, along with the aid of historical photographs, results in a timeless quality in each of Chase?s works. In his quest for mystique, accuracy, and a true sense of history, Chase does extensive research. His travels have led him from New York and Washington, D.C. to Colorado and California and finally to Italy in a never-ending search to obtain materials and photography for new paintings. The talented artist says, "Being a photorealist, I am dependent on finding accurate reference material for each painting.? Chase works with acrylics on canvas, spending hundreds of hours on each painting with the ultimate goal of presenting a fresh, unique, and elegant approach to familiar subjects. The detail in each painting is remarkable, but the mood each is equally impressive. Chase is acknowledged as a master of breathtaking scenes depicting our country?s natural and historical treasures. He has painted images of such famous landmarks as The White House, the Capitol, and the Supreme Court building to name a few. As a naturalized citizen, he felt honored as well as professionally challenged to paint these subjects. Chase also paints magnificent foreign landscapes. His travels in Italy inspired him to paint St. Peter?s Basilica and the romantic canals of Venice. The artist?s outstanding talent in his use of light is evident in "The Glory of San Pietro? and "The Mists of Morning.? Without traveling to these world-famous locales, the viewer is able to feel as if the scene is unfolding before them in person. Rising early to photograph the dramatic light of sunrise or awaiting the soft, moody glow of sunset, Chase captures the emotion and direction in which he will paint his subject. The artist will continue to create elegant, awe-inspiring scenes by combining antique and modern photographs with just the right touch of artistic license. Rod Chase is represented by Greenhouse Gallery of Fine Art in San Antonio, Texas. He is published exclusively by Somerset Fine Art. Chase, a native of Canada, and his wife live with their five children in the Texas Hill Country. In 1999, he became a United States citizen.

The American Spirit by Tom duBois

Lot 444S: The American Spirit by Tom duBois

by Artistic Holdings Company

April 19, 2014, 5:00 AM PST

Las Vegas, NV, USA

Estimated Price: $160 - $200

Description: The American Spirit by Tom duBois - Edition Size: Open - Open Giclee Poster Dimensions: 24 x 18 Release Date: 1-2013 ???.Tom duBois? outlook on life is eternally young. He has the gift of seeing through a child?s eyes ? transforming the realistic into the magical. He is fond of a quote by Picasso, "Every child is an artist?the problem is remaining a child once you grow up.? The artist?s unassuming and humble personality, combined with his outstanding talents, result in highly imaginative works of art unique to his creative genius. Always a delightful artist and guest at gallery shows, duBois has amazed and entertained his collectors with not only his artistic abilities, but also his acoustic guitar and songs. duBois loves to travel for research on the animals and people featured in his paintings as well as for period clothing. The artist has been known to stop people on the street if they fit his idea for a person he plans to include in an image. And, with his winning smile and honest persona, he is rarely turned down by one of his potential "models.? With meticulous research and attention to detail, duBois creates rich, intricate works that astound the viewer. Over a short period of years, duBois was catapulted to the pinnacle of the limited edition art world. His most famous images are from his Noah?s Ark Series, the Disney Discovery Collection, the phenomenal Hosanna, and other religious works of art. With sell-out editions on each release, duBois has established himself as an artist who captures the whole story in his paintings. In the Noah?s Ark images, the artist created fantastic, colorful scenes depicting the construction of the Ark, the Ark as it sailed the endless water covering the earth, the gathering of the animals for their journey on the Ark, and the celebration of the waters receding as Noah and his family returned to land. duBois? "Hosanna,? depicting Christ being led into the City of Jerusalem through the throngs of people who worshipped Him as He bestowed His love on them, is a masterpiece of creativity that has been compared to some of the world?s most admired religious works. For the Disney Discovery Collection, duBois created amazing images featuring five of the Disney characters?Snow White, Peter Pan, Alice in Wonderland, Pinocchio, and Cinderella?images that astounded the art world. Hidden within the images were characters and items from each story?to view one of these works is truly incredible. duBois is a unique talent whose imagination knows no bounds.

American Pioneer Spirit by Bruce Cheever

Lot 446S: American Pioneer Spirit by Bruce Cheever

by Artistic Holdings Company

April 19, 2014, 5:00 AM PST

Las Vegas, NV, USA

Estimated Price: $600 - $750

Description: American Pioneer Spirit by Bruce Cheever - Edition Size: 95 - Giclee on Canvas - Signed & Numbered Dimensions: 20 x 30 Release Date: 9-2011 ???.Bruce Cheever remembers his interest in art started as a child. His natural, artistic talent led him to enjoy success as an illustrator for many years, eventually leading to a career as a fine artist. During his years spent in illustration, he gained much knowledge, along with an ability of observation and discipline in the arts. He also credits his education at BrighamYoung University as a positive influence in his success. In this formative period of his career, he also discovered an affinity for tonalism and luminism. The artist?s atmospheric and bucolic paintings are suggestive of Renaissance landscapes. This passion for the landscape is driven by the never-ending search for beauty. Cheever states, "Art is a visual language and, as an artist, my hope is that my work is not just paint on a board, but rather a combination of inspiration, emotion, and skill to inspire the human soul. As primarily a landscape painter, I strive to evoke emotion in the spirit of those who view my work and to give them a sense of place within the landscape. My hope is that I can touch the chords of nostalgia and beauty that lie within each of us, and further hope to inspire others to pay attention to the simple beauties of life.? Today, Cheever?s studio paintings take shape from the inspiration he gathers from his travels. Whether painting a rural scene in the American West or a pastoral European landscape, his art is emerging with a style of its own. The artist adds, "My objective is to inspire others through art and to participate in reminding mankind that the world can be good if we consciously take the time to appreciate what is around us. I am inspired by the ordinary and moved by the extraordinary and feel that both are equal in beauty, if careful attention is given to both. I thank God for His gifts to me and the ability to share them with others. I simply believe that we are all given glimpses of divinity to sooth our souls, and that each of us is given gifts to share with one another.? Cheever is represented by Trailside Galleries in their Jackson and Scottsdale locations. He exhibits at many invitational shows, including showcases with Trailside Galleries, and he also participates in group shows with Settlers West Gallery in Tucson, Arizona, and Howard Mandville Gallery in Kirkland, Washington. He has exhibited at the prestigious Masters of the American West Show at the Autry National Center in Los Angeles, at the Jackson Hole Art Auction, and at the Arts for the Parks, where he is one of the top 100 winners. His work has been featured in Art of the West, Southwest Art, Western Art Collector, and American Art Collector magazines.
