Description: *Civil & Military Aircraft. An interesting archive of 35mm colour slides mostly taken at RAF St. Athan, by Mr V. Jenkins, c. 1958-late 1990s, approx. 7, 000 slides, many labelled (particularly the earlier years) with aircraft type and registration, generally in very good condition, contained in card and plastic slide boxes within Mr. Jenkins's labelled biscuits tins. Mr. Jenkins was an amateur photographer, well known in his local area of Cwmaman, South Wales. This collection is being sold by his family who have agreed that copyright will pass to the purchaser. Description: *Beamont (Roland Prosper 'Bee', 1920-2001, CBE, DSO & Bar, DFC & Bar). A signed vintage black and white photograph, early 1960s, showing Beamont seated in the cockpit [of the British Aircraft Corporation TSR-2], signed in blue ballpoint pen, lower left, 'Best wishes, Roland Beamont', Classified Photograph wetstamp and pencil reference to verso, 20 x 25cm. Wing Commander Roland Beamont was a British fighter pilot in the Royal Air Force during the Second World War. He worked as a test pilot for Hawker's and after the War continued to be a test pilot. He tested many notable aircraft, including the Canberra and Lightning, as well as this later-cancelled BAC TSR-2 - a Cold War strike aircraft developed by BAC. Beamont was the first British pilot to fly supersonic and the first pilot to make a double-Atlantic crossing by jet. (?)...ssion of BAC and retirement in 1979.
