Description: Bell (A. D., fl. 1920s-1950s). "Clearing the Channel" & "The Pilot Returns", together two gouache and watercolour scenes of clipper ships off the coast, each signed, approx. 260 x 370 mm (10 x 14.5 in), matching modern gilt frames, glazed A. D. Bell was the pseudonym of Wilfrid Knox (1884-1966), a marine and landscape painter from Birmingham, who painted clipper ships, harbour and coastal scenes for the Birmingham dealer Arthur Joseph, under this name.
