C.1974, Heritage Heirlooms, Tiger Maple, Triple

Lot 175: C.1974, Heritage Heirlooms, Tiger Maple, Triple

Estimated Price: Log in or create account to view price data

Description: C.1974, Heritage Heirlooms, Tiger Maple, Triple chime, 3-weight tall clock with Keininger Movement, and with seconds hand and with strike/silent lever and with tune selector to right, giving choice of Whittington, St. Michaels, or Westminster tune, adding another melody segment at each quarter hour, with the full tune on the hour, followed by a full chord strike. Condition: the owners dog chewed the left molding above the plinth, and it was sanded and stained; it is not noticeable in the foto, but will need attention if you want to display the clock prominently. Otherwise the clock is virtually like new, runs and chimes nicely. Note whales tail fret and flame finials are well done. [influenced by clocks on display at Henry Ford Museum]. With simple calendar on painted dial above 6. Ht 86" Expensive when new.

C.1880, Seth Thomas,

Lot 176: C.1880, Seth Thomas, "Regulator No. 19", in oak,

Estimated Price: Log in or create account to view price data

Description: C.1880, Seth Thomas, "Regulator No. 16" {NOW WITH MERCURY PENDULUM}, in oak, with 2-jar thumb-print pendulum and center seconds, 8-day weight, sometimes referred to is the Santa Fe model because of their use on that rail line. Condition: other than the replaced pendulum, this clock is in exceptional condition. The original finish has been rubbed with hand cleaner or similar and waxed; still plenty of crazing showing to make you happy. There are no chips in the glass vials [note mercury will be held in the van, not allowed in sale room], and the original dial is perhaps the best we have ever seen. There is a very small bit of veneer lose on the rear top by the mounting bracket, and that can be easily repaired. Also with original winding crank, weight, pulley and all case hardware. Old thermometer in case is inoperative. See Tran Ly's book on Seth Thomas, 3rd edition, pages 301-303. Ly price, 2004 = $32,000. Movement has been idle for ten years and will need oiling. Ht 75"

C.1825, Riley Whiting, Winchester, Conn, 1-day

Lot 179: C.1825, Riley Whiting, Winchester, Conn, 1-day

Estimated Price: Log in or create account to view price data

Description: C.1825, Riley Whiting, Winchester, Conn, 1-day tall clock, a country pine with some doweled joints. Condition: the movement has been re-strung and is in running order {tape over barrels to hold cord in place}. This movement and dial started life together, but probably not with this case, the door of which is a bit tall and too narrow. The hood is missing some type of arched splat or fret and center chimney. There are some nicks and gouges along the vertical edges of the case. The case appears to have an old finish, but has been recently varnished over. A dial mask on the hood would improve the appearance. Generally bright & good+ dial. Ht 81"

C.1805, Connecticut [probably Windham, CT], cherry

Lot 181: C.1805, Connecticut [probably Windham, CT], cherry

Estimated Price: Log in or create account to view price data

Description: C.1805, Connecticut [probably Windham, CT], cherry cased tall clock, 8-day, 2-wt, painted arched dial, with chestnut backboard. Condition: good American movement has trapezoid cut out in both plates, and unusual pillars associated with eastern Conn. The original dial is probably English, with 2 colorful birds in the arch; has gilt + colored fan spandrels in the corners; hour and minute hand are original, sec hand replaced; winding grommets are absent. The case has lovely flame pattern in the solid cherry door. The hood likely had a flat top, and the arch and finials are probably C.1900 additions {also of cherry}. With some imaginative restoration to the hood, this would become a first class New England tall clock. Owned around 1890 by Henry Rogers, 75 Broadway, New Haven, Conn, with attest on case back.
