Description: An early 18th Century Nottingham salt glazed stoneware two-handled loving cup, with bulbous lower body and wide flared rim, with incised decoration of floral sprays, the body incised "John Eddg and Hanna" and dated 1724, 8.25ins diameter x 8.75ins high (rim and footrim somewhat chipped and one handle crudely restored) Illustrated E450-600 Note : This is probably from John Morley's Nottingham Stoneware Factory, in existence from circa 1700 to mid 19th Century Provenance By family descent - An ancestor of the Edgg family came to England in the reign of Henry 1st as huntsman to Lord Idleston. The family settled at a farm in Quarndon, Derbyshire, until it was sold in 1851.
