Anderson for the R.U.S.I., containing a wealth of information on British military uniforms, letters from soldiers, photographs of badges, colours etc., and typescript articles, pen drawings of Napoleonic era shako plates, pictures from 19th Century copies of the Illustrated London News, a photograph of Hussar and Infantry other ranks and N.C.O.s probably in India c. 1900, a watercolour of a Light Company Wing, c. 1827, probably of the 12th Foot, an ink drawing ( sealed pattern) for officer's wing of 51st and 85th Light Infantry, typescript article on Drummers' fringes 1860-72 of Infantry, Militia and Colonial regiments, a very interesting and extensive set of notes on Bandsmens uniforms, handwritten and collected by Major N. Dickenson, D.S.O., of the 100th Foot whilst serving in the 1860s/70's with an accompanying note quoting the Revd. Percy Sumner who says how much this information augments R. E. Ebsworths notes and sketches, eight original shoulder straps of the late Victorian/Edwardian era, vis. two plain scarlet embroidered 'E. Kent' and Buffs' in white, a pair of scarlet edged white and embroidered Y6-L'for York & Lancaster an end section of one, plain scarlet embroidered in white RWF' with grenade above, another plain scarlet embroidered in silver 3 Guernsey' with bugle horn above for 3rd Guernsey Light Infantry, another scarlet embroidered all round in white and with title "Leinster - R. C' a dark blue shoulder strap edged white and embroidered with maple leaf between 'ROYAL' above and 'CANADIAN' below, and a blue cloth patch with '100' embroidered below Prince of Wales's feathers E80-120 Provenance: Christie's, October 15th, 1978, by R.U.S.I. 2
