Description: Two Martin Brothers stoneware tiles, c.1880s, the first with poppies, on a hatched ground and glazed green and brown, the other with Gothic interlaced foliage, in blue and silvery grey, rare Martin Brother & Southwell moulded mark, (c1882-1900), 15 and 14cm, framed (2) It is interesting to find the brothers continuing with Gothic forms which they had largely used in the 1870s.
