The following inscriptions are on the bottom "CAPTAIN ELLERY CLARK COLLECTION", and typed on a piece of paper on each bird, which reads "ELMER CROWELL 1918 working drake (hen) merganser, Never used because Hingham gunner who ordered the pair died of heart attack soon after completion", and signed Ellery Clark.

Condition Report: Both are in strong original paint showing minor wear, and waxed; the hen has some chipping at the top end of the tail, and shows some minor crazing on the back.
