Description: STAMPED "IRELAND / DUEY / SHINNICK / MT. CRAWFORD / VA." DECORATED STONEWARE PITCHER, salt glazed, "2" gallon capacity mark with cross-hatched background, cylindrical body with a sharp shoulder and slightly flared neck, incised rings below rim, on shoulder and above the pronounced foot. Elaborate brushed cobalt decoration comprising a double tulip on front flanked by single flowers, a chain encircling the shoulder, and a chain-swag with leaf-tassel motif off the rim. The pottery of Mathias Ireland, George Duey, and James Shinnick, Rockingham Co., Shenandoah Valley of Virginia.

Condition Report: Outstanding appearance, professional restoration to spout, handle and base, rim with two very minor flakes and a light hairline, minor light hairline off base, several glaze pops.

Description: ROCKINGHAM CO., VIRGINIA DECORATED STONEWARE "BLACKBURY" SQUAT POT, salt glazed, bulbous form with two applied grooved handles. Brushed cobalt three-bloom tulips on each side, incised script "Blackbury" on one side. Attributed to Andrew Coffman or one of his sons, Beldor area of eastern Rockingham Co., Shenandoah Valley of Virginia.

Condition Report: Excellent condition with outstanding color and contrast, light hairline across the base and up the left side of decoration below inscription, small firing spall above base on other side.

Description: IMPORTANT SHENANDOAH VALLEY OF VIRGINIA FIGURAL EARTHENWARE INKSTAND IN FOUR PARTS, lead and manganese glazed, depicting a bear seated on a D-shape slab with outstretched arms holding a ring supporting the inkwell, neck fitted with a removable sander and bear-head cover with facial features and an extended tongue, applied cole-slaw fur. Attributed to Anthony Weis Bacher/Baecher (1824-1889), Winchester, VA.

Condition Report: Excellent as-found condition for this form with the primary imperfection being the loss to neck rim, otherwise only a minor chip to one ear and much less than normal losses to fur.

Condition Report: Near mint with only a single flake to glaze, small rough spot to rim.

Description: RARE SHENANDOAH VALLEY OF VIRGINIA DECORATED EARTHENWARE BOWL, completely lead glazed including under base, deep form with double-groove rim, copper and yellow slip decoration consisting of alternating sine waves and rings on shoulder, the top wave with added dots, wagon-wheel like decoration in center. Attributed to Christian Adam and/or John Coffman, New Market, VA.

Condition Report: Good as-found condition, area of glaze loss in base and some minor spots on shoulder, rim is intact, exterior with some light firing hairlines that do not show on the interior.
