Description: CASED PAIR OF DUELING PISTOLS - Pair of Percussion Pistols by Robert Bragg of London, circa 1840, in fitted mahogany case, the pistols with 9/16" bore, 8" octagonal barrel marked 'London' on top, with target sight, inset silver bands at back, engraved lockplate marked 'Braggs, 36 High Holborn, London', the hammer with sliding safety lock, engraved trigger guard depicting shield and globe, trapped ramrod, figured walnut stock with checkered grip and hammer butt, missing butt plates, 13 1/2" long overall, 17" x 8 1/4" x 2 1/2" case with flush brass handle on top, scratched initials, interior fittings damaged, missing all tools but cleaning rod, barrels with corrosion, multiple dents and scuffs to stocks. These pistols belonged to the Great (5 removed) Grandson of Miles Standish of Mayflower fame, Winfield Weston Morse, who owned a grist mill at Winnegance, Phippsburg, Maine.
