Kämmer’s experimental art strives to visually examine surface, structure and objects themselves. The artist devoted himself to incorporating observer participation in his artwork. This object unites these guiding principles, with observers being invited to adjust a total of 9 rotating discs according to their will. Rotating the discs creates an effect that irritates the eyes – a typical characteristic of op art. The discs are positioned next to each other in nine piles (à 3 discs). This further heightens the effect of optical confusion. Condition: The art box is in very good condition with minimal signs of age and wear, such as slight surface abrasion in places. It measures a total of 83.5 x 83.5 x 7 cm. Rudolf Kämmer (b. 1935) The artist was born in Rudolstadt (Thuringen), 1935, and attended grammar school there from 1942-50.
