Description: This beautiful sterling silver wine cooler, made by the Tiffany & Co. of New York, was produced during 1891-1902; as shown by the letter “T” marking on its bottom, only used while Charles L. Tiffany was president of the company. This piece is also stamped with a pattern number, “Tiffany & Co. Makers”, and “Sterling Silver”. The wine cooler is held up by four miniature paw feet, surrounded by a border of scrolling leaf forms, above which its body has been decorated by diagonal swirling incised lines. Both the upper rim and top of the lift off lid don floral forms and scrolling detail. The inside of the cooler contains a sterling silver cylindrical insert where the wine bottle is to be placed while the rest of the cooler is filled with ice. The entirety of the cooler weighs 88 troy ounces and measures approx. 11 ¾” high and 10” wide. This wine cooler matches the pattern of the tea set from the 1892 Columiban Exposition also up for sale (Lot 36).

Description: This set of six .950 sterling silver French candle sticks, circa 1900, is quite unusual due to most candle sticks being made in sets of two or four. These are superior quality, in excellent condition, with non-weighted circular bases. They are topped with removable bobeshes and have been stamped, along with the bases, with the profile of a man’s head facing left (Mercury) with the number 950; this mark was introduced in 1879 to certify the .950 sterling silver standard. Also stamped on the bobeshes and bases are the words Boin-Taburet a Paris together with a diamond-shaped mark. Each stick is approx. 11” tall and approx. 5½“ in diameter at the base. Together all six sticks weigh a total of 146 troy ounces.

Description: This is an incredible and exquisitely made sterling silver compote was decorated by Edward C. Moore, Tiffany & Co.’s most talented artist. The compote has a neo-classical silhouette, the circular base has subtle neat rows of incised lines, a row of applied beadwork tops the rim of the bowl. The greatest bit of this compote is the realistic and beautiful strawberries and leaves which wind around the bowl and base. This piece’s rarity, early date, exceptional craftsmanship, and association with Moore would entice any serious collector or lover of fine, high quality silver. The compote is approx. 9 ¾ “ in diameter at the top, approx. 7 ¾” tall, and weighs 44 troy ounces. The bottom of the bowl is stamped inside the stem “Tiffany & Co.”, “Tiffany Young & Ellis”, “550 Broadway”, and a gothic “M” designating it as a piece made by Moore. The enamel was done in exceptional detail, shown by the woman’s necklace and bracelet, which gold and silver leaf was used for added realism. The hinged case itself is slightly convex, giving it an extra sophistication of look and comfort of feel. The inside has two elastic straps to secure its contents, and is marked “Y” and “935” (meaning 935/1000 fine). The case is approx. 4” long, 3 ¼“ wide. This case, though made originally for cigarettes, could be used by smokers and non-smokers alike for a variety of things, business cards, money, etc.

Description: This is a beautiful pair of European sterling silver and lightly frosted cut and etched crystal compotes. Each feature an exquisitely rendered deer standing beside an oak wood tree trunk. The bases have been embellished by a lower border cleverly textured to resemble bark of the tree truck above and has also been enhanced by leaves all around. A shield-shaped crest graces the central panel of the base depicting a church with a steeple beneath a trio of fleur-de-lys. The top of the central column, the tree trunk, is topped by a canopy of leafy branches and acorn clusters. Above the leaves is a fanciful circle of interwoven rope-like motifs holding the removable crystal dishes. Each dish is frosted and etched with radiating lines emanating from a small central circle. The upper boarder has been decorated with eat rows of deeply cut and faceted crystal and finished with a jagged edge of geometrically-cut shapes. The silver has no identifying marks but the pieces are believed to be Austrian, circa 1900. The compotes measure approx. 18” tall and 11 ½” in diameter at the top. One glass insert is broken but is available. Weight of silver bases 86ozt.

Description: This is an exceptional pair of museum-quality Georgian sterling silver vegetable dishes, topped with lion-shaped finials and were expertly made over 200 years ago in London, by the renowned silversmith, Robert Garrard. It is no exaggeration claiming these should be in a museum since that is where they were for many years. The pieces once belonged in the collection of the Achland Art Museum at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The museum?s index codes can still be seen on the interior of the lids. Atop the lids, the lion finial doubles as a handle and can also be unscrewed to allow steam to escape a small. The finials are beautifully detailed and encircled by floral forms, while both the lids and dishes are been decorated by gadrooning around the edges. On one side of each cover and dish has a dove above laurel leaves and holding an olive branch. Above it?s head a banner unfurls with an inscription in Hebrew, ?Emet V? Emmich?, which means ?True and Endearing.? A large elaborate monogram graces the opposite side of the dishes. Both the lids and the dishes have been stamped with a full set of English hallmarks showing the maker?s mark of Robert Garrard and the symbol of the leopard?s head used by London followed by the date letter for the year 1804. They measure approx. 8 ½ x 11 and are 5 ½? tall including the lion. They weight approx. 122 ounces.

Inscribed beneath this, are the words “Dieu et Ma Patrie”, meaning ‘God is my country’. The handles and base have been decorated in the Rococo style of scrolling leaves. Description: This is a one-of-a-kind pair of four-light French candelabra, made by Tetard Freres. Sitting at the base of each candelabra are a pair beautifully crafted figural putti, beside which the central column decorated with leaves, berries, and organic forms rises. The berry and leaf details continue onto the four arms, as well as the candle holders, in an elegant stylish manner. The column is topped with an urn-shaped finial tipped with a cluster of berries, highlighted tastefully with trailing leaves and more berries, completing the neo-classical look of the pieces. Description: This is a wonderfully-detailed and whimsical German 800 silver tureen. The lift-off lid has been decorated with summer vegetables and berries, while the body is entirely sea-themed. Its handles are cleverly formed from eels, the body depicts lobster and fish in the foreground of marine vegetation, and sits upon four legs…which happen to be exquisitely crafted fish. The tureen is in wonderfully condition, the outside has a soft luster, the interior has a nice gold wash. The base has been stamped with three German hallmarks. Description: This is a truly one-of-a-kind six-piece sterling silver Tiffany & Co. tea set; it was displayed by Tiffany’s at the Columbian Exposition that was held in Chicago in 1893. This Exposition, which commemorated the 400th anniversary of Christopher Columbus’ arrival in the ‘New World’, is considered the most important of over one hundred Worlds’ Fairs held between 1851-1925. Tiffany selected 500 of their very finest items to showcase in their “Million Dollar Exhibition”, one of the Exposition’s most popular attractions, and this very tea set was in it. It has been beautifully made in the neo-classical style, popular in Georgian England. All pieces sit on four low paw feet which are surrounded by miniature roses and scrolling forms, the upper rims of the pieces have also been accented with miniature rose motifs. Gently swirling incised lines flow around the lower portion of each piece, and has been repeating in a more simplified manner around the hinged lids of the tea pot, coffee pot, hot water heater, and on the covered sugar bowl. A matching waste bowl completes the set. The base of each piece has been engraved with a three-letter monogram, ERA, together with the date 1893. The pieces are also stamped with a pattern number, “Tiffany & Co. Makers”, “Sterling Silver”, “M” mark used during this period, the amount of contents each piece can hold, and a special emblem of a globe of the world containing the words “Tiffany & Co.” which was used exclusively for items showcased at the Exposition. The four caviar dishes sit on octagonal bases, each end accented by applied floral swag, and each side by a pair of octagonal medallions; one showing a floral scene, the other shows a young nymph with Cupid. All pieces have been decorated on each side (on each end of the platters) with a neo-classical figural motif, each one is a different scene surrounded by a pretty border. The covered dish has an octagonal lid which has an organic form for its handle; the inside of the dish holds a removable eight-sided sterling silver insert which can be taken out to be used as an additional serving bowl. Description: This is a fine English sterling silver claret jug from the Victorian era. The jug has an ovoid form with bright cut engraved decoration as well as applied mask decoration to the body. There are three oval panels, each bright cut engraved with a coat of arms. These arms appear to show the arms of Boyd impaling and quartering a number of variants of the arms of Anderson. The body is supported by a cherub seated on a circular decorated base. The underside of the lip has a cast and applied decoration mask. A maiden and cherub decorate the cast handle. The base is marked with an inscription which reads, “Presented to Edward Fenwick Boyd by the Consett Iron Company June 1888” “The gift of E. F. Boyd to his son George Fenwick July 1888 to be handed down as an heirloom”. The jug is approx. 16”, approx. 4” in diameter, and weighs approx. 33 troy ounces.
