Description: Partly printed DS as president, signed "James Madison," one page, 20.25 x 16.25, January 5, 1811. A four-language ship's papers issued to William C. Tobin, "master or commander of the ship called Rebecca ... lying at present in the port of New York, bound for Bordeaux and laden with Cotton .... " Signed in the middle by Madison and countersigned by Secretary of State Robert] Smith. In very good condition, with intersecting folds, scattered wrinkles and small creases (faint wrinkles lightly touching signature), a touch of mild Soiling to perimeter, small tears to blank portion at upper left,and scattered edge wear. Two embossed paper seals remain intact at left center. One of the more desirable presidential document formats.

Description: Madison signed land grant dated February 26,1813 for a Benjamin Templer a Lieutenant Colonel for three years. Parchment document 11.75"x16.5" in fine condition. The writing is quite legible and with a nice signeure by james Madison. The grant is for lands lying north west of the river Ohio, between Little Miami and Sciota.

Description: 5th American President. Autograph Letter Signed, "Jas Monroe" as Secretary of State, 1 page, May 18, 1815, Fredricksburg, Virginia, 9.75" x 7.5", Very Fine. Three vertical folds, with a slight ink smear through one word of text, some foxing around edges. Monroe writes in a strong hand and signs boldly. The War of 1812 had ended a few months earlier in the year. Waterloo and the end of Napoleon was exactly one month in the future. In this climate the future President seems anxious to do the service for his correspondent of advancing Mr. Everett's cause in the Netherlands. "Having impress'd that your friend Mr. Everett [probably Alexander Hill Everett, 1790-1847, charges d'affaires at the Hague 1818-24J would meet with Eustis, I had post-pon'd forwarding the letter you had requested in his favor to ... Holland, in the expectation that it would be in time if receiv' d before the departure of the minister .. .!t was my I intention to have transmitted it from Richmond, at which place I contemplated answering many other private letters. I heard yesterday by accident that Mr. Everett ... had sailed ... which induced me to transmit immediately the enclosed. ... you may perhaps forward it after him in time to reach him in England .. .! shall regret much if a mistake as to the time of his departure shall have deprived me of the opportunity of doing ... some small service to your friend. Mrs. Monroe writes with me in respectful regards to your parents and sisters ... " A nice Monroe ALS in excellent condition.

Inscribed to 18-year-old "Miss Margaretta Wilson from the friend of her father" James Wilson, grandfather of President Woodrow Wilson, and publisher in 1840 with her brother Robert, of an Ohio Harrison newspaper "Log Cabin".Book Inscribed and Signed for "Miss Margaretta Wilson / from the friend of her father / W.H. Harrison / of / North Bend / Ohio / Steubenville / 11th July 1838" on the title page. "The Token and Atlantic Souvenir. A Christmas and New Year's Present," edited by S.G. Goodrich. Boston: Charles Bowen, 1836. Red, embossed leather over boards with "The / Token" and "Boston / 1836" gilt stamped on the spine. Printed endpapers. Gilt page edges. Scattered light foxing. Moderate wear; head of spine covering is detached exposing the loose text block. Front and rear hinges are cracked, boards still attached. Housed in an E. H. Busdiecker custom-made plastic slipcase with removable spine cover. Good condition.
