Condition Report: Although a set of six, one of the spoons is slightly shorter than the others and two of the spoons have slightly longer scroll appliques. The collet setting for the mother of pearl set spoon has a small dent. There is a chip to the turquoise stone set in one other spoon and the orange cabochon in another spoon is badly cracked. Marks clear. The box has some light wear conducive with age and some fraying to the front right corner. Description: A pair of George III silver butter shells, with engraved armorial and gadrooned border, on conch shell feet, Burrage Davenport, London, 1773, 5.75in, 7 oz.

Condition Report: 1st butter shell- There is a split to the rim close to the beginning of the gadrooned rim on both sides of the shell. There appears to be an old small repair to one of these areas also. There are a few minor dings to the centre of the shell and therear foot has been very slightly pushed upwards. Marks fairly clear although date letter and maker's mark quite rubbed. 2nd shell- There is a slpit to the rim one one side in the same place as the other shell and again several minor dings to the centre. Marks relatively clear although beginning to rub. Condition Report: There is a very tired engraved armorial and monogram to the centre of the lid. There are two areas of repair to the rim on the underside of the base (splits that have been soldered). The base of the thumbpiece appears to be quite worn, but no apparent repair.
