Minor suface soiling and old glue stains in places on reverse, with two red stains at the reverse of the upper margin corners that appear to be the result of old tape (this does not show through in red to the front). The lower right corner gently creased. Taped to the overmat with brown paper tape at the extreme sheet edges, such that the tape is in contact with the print only at the extreme 1/8 - 1/16 in. edge of the paper. There is a soft 1-inch crease in the lower left margin. Butterfly/Downcast Eyes: With a two inch horizontal crease in the lower center margin edge. A 1-inch soft horizontal crease at the upper left corner. Diagonal Yellow line: With a 2-inch soft horizontal crease in the center right margin edge. All of these condition issues are very unobtrusive. Because of the Japanese paper, the soft creases are very difficult to see unless held at an angle to bright light. Condition Report: With scattered brown foxing throughout and time staining that is darker along the right sheet edge. The sheet with a central horizontal fold and attendant staining and weakening of paper fibers. There are also two vertical creases extending the length of the sheet just to the left of the figures head, with losses at the left and upper sheet corners, along with attendant short 1/4 to 1/8 inch tears. The support light and mat stained, and with a large approx. 6 inch dark moisture stain at upper left, extending into the drawing just to the upper left of the figures head. The drawing affixed to the support in places at the reverse of the sheet corners such that this work was not examined at the reverse, it is apparent however that the sheet was not laid down. Condition Report: The upper and lower sheet edges slightly unevenly trimmed. With the palest light and mat staining and a small half inch irregular glue stain at upper right near the sheet edge. With traces of red along the window mat opening (presumably result of contact with colored mat). One 1 in. and four short 1/4 to 1/2 in. tears at the bottom sheet edge and three 1/4 in. losses evenly spaced along the right margin edge. Minor surface soiling and old tape remains verso at the center of left and right margin edges, otherwise generally in good condition. Condition Report: With pale light and mat staining. The bottom edge deckled with old brown paper tape remains along the reverse of all four margin edges. There are four areas of 4 in. shallow abrasions across the reverse of the bottom margin (these do not show through on the front) and there are 4 similar abraided areas at the reverse of the right margin edge, three at the reverse of the upper margin edge, and two at the reverse of the left margin edge. Some of these include a perpendicular 1/2 in. abrasion that may be the result of old staples that were removed from previous framing against the print, a few of these short staple sized abrasions appear as very shallow indentations in the margin on the front. These are in the upper right margin and along the right margin but are not visible in the left and bottom margins.
