Auction Description for AdamsAmsterdam: Full Disclosure: The Art and Life (and Loves) of Jan Cremer
Sale Notes:
Jan Cremer realized his childhood dreams far beyond imagination. He gathered fame, wealth and the affections of some of the most coveted women of his time. Despite wandering all over the world, restless as he was, he meticulously saved all of the silent witnesses of his picaresque adventures, of his superhuman achievements and of his countless conquests in large chests at his various houses: designs, paintings, manuscripts, letters, photos, and other documents and objects - the fruits of his own talent and of that of the many artists, writers and girlfriends he met throughout his eventful life: Andy Warhol and Nico, Brian Jones and Bob Dylan, Jayne Mansfield and Betsey Johnson, Topor and Tinguely, Charles Jackson and Frank O'Hara, Constant and Corneille, Karel Appel and Klaas Gubbels, Armando and Schoonhoven, Reve and Hermans, Tom Wesselmann and Willem de Kooning and many, many others. It is with great pleasure that we offer over 800 treasures from Jan Cremer's abundant life and work, and a manifold of connected stories.

Very first and heartbreaking drawing by Jan Cremer with his signature

Lot 2: Very first and heartbreaking drawing by Jan Cremer with his signature

Estimated Price: Log in or create account to view price data

Description: CREMER, Jan. First autograph signature and orig. drawings on 'Shell-Verkeersspel'. Board game, printed in colour on paper, 60 x 41 cm., folded three times. 1942-1943. With orig. drawings in pencil of the young Jan Cremer. First manifestation of double talent Jan Cremer. One very moving drawing of his father's funeral with coffin with little windows next to Jan's first writing attempts and autograph "Jantje Cremer". (Tears, tape, sl. browned).

From Ibiza, with Jan Cremer's house marked with a cross on the card: "dag moeder en irma alles goed hier - over 2 weken tentoonstelling daag veel liefs jan. X woon ik". Good condition. (One postcard with cut out stamp).Top Ten item, with a special introduction by Onno Blom:Een reis over de wereld in bijna tachtig kaarten. Wereldreiziger no. 1. Geweest in Rusland, Noorwegen, Finse kust. You have a beautiful brother. I love him, too.' (N.B.
