Left side of receiver has a stud & ring. Mounted with uncheckered gumwood stock & forearm with straight grip & carbine buttplate. Bbl. address is on top, forward of the rear sight & is a standard address, however includes "PATENTED AUGUST 14. 1894." instead of having the August 21, 1894 patent date. According to The Winchester Book, Madis, this error occurred in about 1907 & this die was used for only a short period of time. Rifle is from the prestigious Wes Adams collection & was previously sold at auction by James D. Julia. CONDITION: very fine plus. Bbl. & mag. tube retain 97-98% strong original blue with only faint muzzle end wear; bbl. bands retain about all of their crisp original blue with light wear on the forearm band; receiver retains about 85% glossy original blue with flaking on the left side & a few minor spots of pitting on top right edge; hammer retains bright case colors, faded on top edge; lever retains brilliant case colors; buttplate retains about 90% original blue with some minor candy striping & wear on the heel. Wood is sound with a few minor bruises & the buttstock retains about 90% original finish & the forearm about 50%. Mechanics are crisp, brilliant shiny bore; shows very little use. (14-1145DS).
